How Home works, and who sees what
Most golf apps are for the four hours you are on the course. Then you close them, and whatever happened out there lives in a group text for a day and disappears.
The part of golf that keeps a group together is the other six days. Who shot what on Thursday. Who finally broke 90. Whose partner carried them. Swilkin puts that where you will see it: on the first screen.
Home is one stream
Open the app and there is one list, not a menu of places to go.
What needs you is on top. A round you have not finished, a tee time coming up, an event waiting on you.
Under it is everyone’s golf, yours included. Rounds, posts and events, ranked by who you actually play with, and searchable. A finished round shows up for anyone who is friends with a player on it, so you do not have to post anything for your Saturday to be seen.
Like it, answer it
Double-tap a round to like it. Talk in the comments: congratulations, or the other thing. You are told when somebody comments on your round.
Photos belong to the round
Anyone in the round can add photos and tag who is in them, and they show on the round’s post and on profiles. A photo does not need a round, either: + on Home, then Photo, posts one on its own. Anyone tagged can remove their own tag.
Follow a round while it is being played
A casual round in play shows live to anyone connected to someone on the card: a friend, or somebody they have played with. Everyone else can open its link once the round is done. For an event, share the board link and anyone can watch in a browser with no app and no login, unless the organizer made the event private.
Make it yours
Star the regulars and mute the noisy ones from any golfer’s page; the stream follows.
Your own posts go to friends unless you pick Everyone or Only me. Your email, phone, and birthday reach your friends only if you choose to share them, and your GHIN number stays yours alone.
The honest notes
- Scores are open. Once a round is done, anyone holding its link can read the card, with no login. While it is being played, only people connected to someone on it can see it.
- There is nothing to see until you have people. The stream is ranked by who you play with, so it starts with one round and the names on that card.
- It is the same app for everyone. Couples games, the ladies’ nine, a junior and a parent, the senior scramble: every format works for every group.
Where to start
Play a round and add the people you played with by name. They do not need the app to be on your card.
