Your data, plainly.

What we collect

• Account basics: your email, name, and password (stored only as a cryptographic hash), or your Google or Apple account identifier if you sign in with one of those.
• Your golf: scores, rounds, courses played, handicap index, stats, matches, and the results of the games your group plays.
• Money-game results: who won what in your group's games, so the app can show each round's settle-up and your records. Swilkin never collects card numbers or bank details and never moves money (see the terms for the full promise). If you add payment handles (a Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App username), we store the handle only so buddies can open the right app pointed at you.
• Date of birth: asked when you sign up, for money games (18+) and kids' safety. It is also used for an organizer's age limits on divisions and sign-ups, and, only if you switch it on, showing your birthday to friends. Never shown publicly.
• Players you add by name: when you add a buddy who isn't on Swilkin, we store what you type about them: their name, and, only if you fill them in, an email, phone number, handicap index, GHIN number, gender, or date of birth. That is what makes the scorecard, the strokes, and the flights work. If they join later, they can claim that record; until then it belongs to your account, and you can edit or clear any of it.
• Which page you were reading: when a page on this site loads it tells our own server that page's address, and the same tag rides along if you tap through to sign up. That is how we know which articles are worth writing. There is no cookie, no tracking pixel, no advertising network, and nothing stored on your device, which is why this site has no banner asking you to accept anything. We cannot tell one reader from another or that you came back: we count page reads, not people.

What we use it for

Running the app: live scorecards, leaderboards, settle-ups, stats, and the emails the app sends: password resets, email confirmations, tee times, the event invitation an organizer sends you, and the "claim your record" link a buddy sends when they want you to have the rounds you played together. That's the lot. No advertising profiles, no data brokers, no selling or renting your information to anyone, ever.

Who can see what

• Your group sees the rounds, scores, and games you share with them. That's the product.
• A link you share is readable by anyone holding it, no login, no expiry. While a round is being played only people connected to someone on it can see it; once it's done anyone holding its link can read it, and it shows in Home for every player's friends, so treat it like a photo you texted.
• Public event pages show what an organizer publishes: the leaderboard, field, and results of a public tournament or league. Private events stay private.
• Money is gated: amounts are visible only inside your group's games, and the app keeps the figures out of the way until you've played for money yourself.

Services we rely on

Swilkin runs on rented infrastructure like any modern app: hosting (Railway), a database, file storage, and our network (Cloudflare), email delivery (Resend), and Google or Apple Sign-In if you choose one. Two features also send data to Anthropic (Claude): when you photograph a paper scorecard, that photo goes so the handwriting can be read; and when you type a question into Ask, or describe a round in plain English, that text goes so it can be understood. We keep what you typed, tied to your account, so we can see what people are asking for. These providers process data on our behalf to run the service: none of them may use your data for their own purposes.

That page-read count is the only traffic measurement on this site. No analytics product, no cookie, and no third-party script of any kind, which is why there has never been a cookie banner here, and why there won't be.

Kids

Swilkin isn't directed at children under 13, and accounts without an adult birthdate can't create or see money games. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll remove it.

Your controls

• Change your email, password, and profile in the app.
• Download a copy of everything we hold on you, or delete your account and its data, from Settings → Account in the app, no email, no waiting on us. Scores you posted into someone else's event may remain on that event's record (a tournament's history stays whole), but they'll no longer be tied to your identity. If something goes wrong, [email protected].

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so plainly: a note in the app, not a silent edit. Questions? Email [email protected]. A person reads it.
